Dr Narcis Ursache
Lecturer
Dr Narcis Ursache has completed his doctoral studies in computational engineering and morphing aircraft in 2006. Since then he worked alongside Bristol University and Airbus on projects that delivered turnkey engineering solutions to aerospace key stakeholders. He focused on fashion and design integration of smart structures to dynamically tailor the external morphology of wingtip devices of commercial aircraft in order to improve multi-phase mission performance, manoeuvrability and integrated economics. He defined and managed the design and construction of half-scale narrow-body aircraft wing with features for morphing capability, with emphasis on aeroelastically tailored flexible composite skins. . Currently, Dr N Ursache is a lecturer of aerospace engineering within Brunel University, London, School of Engineering and Design, where he won substantial bids and managed research grants towards morphing aircraft using state-of-the-art smart and composite material applications and non-conventional configurations. He is involved in extensive research on innovative aircraft structural design in collaboration with industry and professional bodies, His expertise spans from aircraft conceptual design to physical structural implementation of smart and composite topologies, combining stress and parametric designs of multi-functional structures. He also teaches aerospace engineering expert modules to all levels.
