Dr. Christian Klumpner received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the “Politehnica” University of Timisoara, Timisoara, Romania, in 2001. From 2001 to 2003, he was a Research Assistant Professor in the Institute of Energy Technology, Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark. From October 2003 to 2011, he was a Lecturer with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Nottingham, Nottingham, U.K., where he is currently an Associate Professor. His current research interests include power electronics for various applications such as ac drives, connecting renewable energy sources and energy storage devices to the ac power grid. Dr. Klumpner received the Isao Takahashi Power Electronics Award in 2005 at the International Power Electronics Conference organized by the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan in Niigata. He is also a recipient of the 2007 IEEE Richard M. Bass Outstanding Young Power Electronics Engineer Award.
