Dr Suman Anand
Senior researcher
I am currently a Faculty for Future fellow; (a programme launched by the Schlumberger Foundation) in the Applied Optical Manipulation Group of the Electronic Engineering and Physics Division. I am engaged in the investigation of new techniques to explore aerosol properties by making use of optical tweezers. I am engaged in optical trapping and manipulating aerosols and then freezing it under controlled laboratory conditions. Ultimately, my work may help in resolving environmental issues such as climate change, global radiation uncertainty and the effects of aerosols on cloud formations. I am PhD in Physics. During PhD, I was focused upon thin film deposition and its characterisation by various techniques such as SEM, TEM,etc. Suman has experience of working in a number of research fields. I have worked as PI of an independent project funded by DST, India. In 2006 and 2009, I was awarded Royal Society of Edinburgh and Leverhulme visiting fellowships respectively. During 2011-2012, I was also awarded a research grant from Royal Society to support my present at Dundee.
